Our Story

Born from loss. Built on love.

The story of Hope Wins! Animal Rescue — and the three dogs who started it all.

It started with three heartbeats.

Malachi, Wally, and Mae. Three dogs raised from puppyhood who became family in every sense of the word. They weren't pets — they were the center of gravity. The ones waiting at the door. The ones who knew when something was wrong before anyone else did.

For years, they were the constant. Through every move, every career change, every hard day — those three were there.

Eleven days that changed everything.

Wally had been sick for a while. In his final week, the suffering became unbearable to watch. A promise had been made — never let him suffer — and that promise had to be kept. Saying goodbye to Wally was the hardest decision imaginable. But it was the right one.

Then, still reeling from that loss, something was different about Malachi. He wasn't himself. When the vet evaluated him, the news was devastating: terminal cancer. Less than two days later — after he stopped eating — it was time to say goodbye again.

Eleven days. Two best friends. Gone. Mae remained — older, quieter, but still there.

"In those dark moments, I knew what I needed to do. I had long wanted to be involved in rescue and animal welfare. The loss didn't take that dream away — it ignited it."

Wings meet purpose.

September 2024. Malachi and Wally were gone. But something was growing in the space they left behind — not emptiness, but clarity. A realization that the love didn't have to stop. That it could be redirected, multiplied, given to animals who had no one.

The answer had been there all along: wings. The ability to reach animals in danger hundreds of miles away — to fly them out of overcrowded shelters, off the streets, out of dangerous situations — and carry them to safety.

Two months later, a Cessna Cardinal RG was purchased. She was named Hope.

Meet Hope.

Hope Wins! Animal Rescue was born. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a simple mission: transport at-risk animals to safety — whether from overcrowded shelters, off the streets, or out of dangerous situations. One rescue at a time.

Every flight is donated personally by the founder. No donors pay for fuel. No sponsors cover flight costs. The flights are a personal offering — a way to restore balance, to give back for everything received.

"The universe runs on balance. I had been the recipient of so much — opportunity, joy, support. Something was off. I was only taking. Hope Wins is how I give back."

The mission grows.

Since those first flights, Hope Wins has rescued 22 animals. But the mission didn't just grow in numbers — it grew in heart.

One rescue involved a pack of abandoned dogs living on the streets of South Texas — three grown dogs and five puppies, surviving on nothing. Hope flew them out. One of those dogs — Rio, the father of the pups — came home.

Then there was Sprinkles — found abandoned on the streets and brought into the family.

Rio and Sprinkles joined Mae, completing a household that knows both loss and love — one that practices what it preaches. Every animal deserves a second chance.

A life of service.

Hope Wins! isn't just about rescue flights. It's about inspiring a way of living — the belief that everyone has something to give, and that giving it away is how we find our place in the world.

Malachi and Wally didn't just leave behind grief. They left behind a spark. Every animal that flies on Hope carries a piece of them. Every paw print on the fuselage is a testament to what love becomes when it refuses to stop.

Mae, at 16, still watches from the door. Rio and Sprinkles are proof that the cycle continues. Loss becomes love. Love becomes action. Action becomes legacy.

"Inspiring others to do the same — that's the goal. This work is my offering to the universe. It's how I keep loving them, even though they're gone."
